Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, Tom received his degree from Pratt Institute in 1972. His love of art & music found him working on album covers in Hollywood, California. By 1975, after a short stint with ad agencies and design studios, and realizing his focus on letterforms was to be a lifelong pursuit, Tom Nikosey Design was established. Still going strong, Tom continues working with youthful enthusiasm coupled with a seasoned style. Whether it be sports logos, magazine covers, posters, postage stamps or custom fonts, he never tires of the challenge of creating a strong memorable identity. His promotional books are in the permanent collection of The Library of Congress. Several awards have been garnered from ADLA, ADC/NY, ADC/ Dallas, ADC/ Houston, SILA, SINY to name a few. His memorable images can be found on the ’Holiday Deer’ 33c stamps -1999 & ‘Bison’ 21c stamp - 2000. Tom’s work has been featured in Step By Step, Idea, How, AirBrush Action, Illustrator CS & CS2, Designing with Illustration, and in Leslie Cabarga’s Logo & Lettering Bible. Tom shares his studio and life with his wife Kristen, also a designer / illustrator. Their son Spencer is currently studying at Art Center College of Design, while daughter Danielle is a freshmen at The University of San Diego.
